I have been going on retreat with Joanna for many years and often go 2-4 times a year. Joanna’s retreats are very special and memorable. Joanna’s yoga teaching style makes it accessible to all. I find it to engage my mind and body in a way that is highly therapeutic, and I always return from her retreats restored on many levels. Joanna is highly articulate in her instruction which makes it easier to understand and do the practice. Joanna’s style allows for a sangha (community) to form among those who attend which always restores my belief about the importance of human connection. Joanna’s retreats are always in beautiful places in which you become immersed in nature and culture. I hope to see you at one of her retreats.

Such a great experience this January. I found Joanna Dunn literally by looking around online for WA yoga retreats this winter. I didn’t know anyone else going or what to expect and I had such an amazing time. She attracts good people, unassuming, down to earth folks and I immediately felt comfortable. Joanna herself is an amazing facilitator- everything she offers is an invitation, and somehow she structures the retreats in a way that meets each person where they’re at- offering modifications, opt-in or opt-out options. This retreat helped me, for the first time in my life, build a daily meditation practice because she made it accessible and helped me learn what meditation actually is… she took away the intimidation I felt around it. The yoga level was also very variable- I’m a seasoned yoga practicer and still felt challenged; yet, so did others around me who were new to yoga. oh and the food was amazing! For those who find themselves hesitating to dive in for the first time, I recommend you go for it! I’m sure glad that I did.

I started taking yoga classes from Joanna about 13 years ago. Not only is she an exceptional yoga instructor but also an exceptional woman: intelligent, compassionate, kind, funny, dependable, and will meet your yoga needs as to wherever your body and spirit are at that moment. I’ve attended several of her retreats: Whidbey Island, Doe Bay, Mazama, Roselyn and found each unique yet with the common thread of Joanna’s ability to bring newcomers and repeaters together to create community and a peaceful, rejuvenating experience. Besides yoga, there is plenty of laughter, time together, alone, or with Joanna, exploring, and eating delicious, healthy food. I was one of those people who wasn’t crazy about meditation, but Joanna’s perseverance and understanding (always offering help and reassurance) has brought me a new appreciation for meditation. The other aspect of her practice I love, is her continual growth in yoga and related paths and her ability to make it accessible for everyone.

I’ve only practiced with Joanna during her annual retreat to salt spring island. My friend and I found the retreat based on wanting a get-a-way from the greater seattle area and we loved the idea of being able to drive to that retreat. The retreat itself is at Stowell Lake Farm where you’ll be treated to fresh farm to table vegetarian meals, 4-5 classes a day (optional based on what you need/ how you feel) of meditation, yoga, and various workshops. You’ll find time for naps, reading, arts/ crafts, or walking the grounds; as well as two small lakes close by. The yoga practiced is in no way traditional vinyasa but a collective of Joanna’s experience in multiple fields of practice. My body really appreciated the Feldenkrais techniques we learned for unwinding various areas of the body- I’ve taken that practice home and use weekly for self care. I highly recommend booking ahead for 2027!

Joanna Dunn curated a wonderful yoga retreat in Isla Mujeres. Her experience in this area shines through as she anticipates all the needs of the group and communicates in a clear way. Her down-to-earth approach is very approachable to those with little experience in yoga and meditation. At the same time, experienced yogi's are provided opportunities to deepen their practice and explore creative somatic movement. I had a wonderful experience with just the right balance of self-exploration, space for myself, and connection with friends.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have attended Joanna's Nourish and Nurture yoga retreat at Wallace Falls last fall. It was exactly what I needed to unwind, nurture myself, and find healing during a challenging period in my life. Initially, I was a bit nervous since it was my first yoga retreat and I didn’t know what to expect. However, the women were so friendly and welcoming, which helped me feel at ease right away. Joanna's yoga and meditation sessions were profoundly healing, the food was both delicious and nutritious, and the massage I received was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I was pleasantly surprised by additional activities such as a group coaching session and ecstatic dance, which both provided me with unexpected clarity. I highly recommend Joanna's yoga retreats and look forward to attending another one soon
